Stories from the Forge
The Drawer That Eats October

Every house has a drawer that collects the small decisions nobody wants to make. By October it can hold three mystery keys, a dead pen, and a cable that belongs to a device you no longer own. You do not need a new storage system. You need a short appointment with the things already in the drawer.
A Small Way to Begin
Empty it onto a towel so you can see what is actually there.
Keep the items used in the last month together; give rarely used items a deliberate home.
Put unidentified items in one small container and choose a date to decide their future.
Make It Part of the Day
A useful drawer earns its space by making the next ordinary job easier. Leave room for your hand to find what it needs. The object is not a photograph of perfect organization. It is finding the tape measure without an archaeological expedition.
